As black women, we have to heal the weight of what the world put on us that was never ours to carry. We have to heal what was left unhealed in our lineage. We have to heal ourselves so we can show up as the most beautiful & authentic versions of who we are.

Our story

Welcome to Cotton Valley Roots!

We are a spiritual and herbal apothecary providing ancestral medicine for the generational healing of Black women.

Through our work, we help you to take an overall look at the generational and intergenerational healing that needs to be done from a holistic point of view by understanding and acknowledging the spiritual and energetic undercurrents of the physical ailments that show up in your body.

We believe in the premise that everything happens in the spiritual first & manifests from there. When you have a healthy spiritual and emotional relationship with yourself and your spirit team, we believe that you will also have a healthy relationship with yourself despite the external influences in the world. This can be easier said than done, but that is why we are dedicated to the work that we do.

Our view of generational healing isn’t something that’s fear-based, from an overarching spiritual standpoint. We believe in the natural process of healing, which is cyclical, just as nature and things that show up in your body, the ailments that “plague” your bloodline or lineage are the things that you can or need to heal.

Because we believe in the cyclical way of healing, how we work is the same. We create intentional ancestral medicine collections (ritual kits) that will assist you on your journey. Each collection we create will be different based on how Spirit provides the medicine, the healing cycle, and the lessons that are asked to be learned within a season/collection.

Answering the call

We understand that our work differs from what you see in today's spiritual community, and we stand by what we do. We know and understand the mission and purpose of how everything is evolving and shifting, and how, as a community, we are being asked and guided to “come back home to ourselves because this next era of spirituality is us doing the work that our ancestors couldn’t do freely. Our roots and foundation will definitely be one of the things that we integrate, embody, and embrace in this next revolutionary phase because of the work that we will be continuing for them on their behalf. Not only will this heal our ancestors, but this will heal our community and us as well. Ancestry, foundation, and community will be the turning point for this new wave of spirituality, this new world that we will be walking into, and no amount of titles, false sense of hierarchy, or power will be in play at all.

So as you navigate this journey of generational and intergenerational healing, we are here to support & intentionally craft the ancestral medicine needed for the healing, the restoration, and liberation of your lineage.

Welcome to the revolution!
